My ipod got wet and still works but its acting funny?

well i got a 2nd gen nano that was supposedly broken off ebay and it turned out i just had to reset it and it worked perfectly and it was in perfect condition and a few days later it went through the washing machine and didn't work at all so i left it in a bag with silica packets for 2 days and it started working, but its acting weird.ill unplug it and it'll say its charging. the backlight doesn't come on most of the time and alot of the times when i restart it it shows the battery with an exclamtion point.ive restored it like 3 times.anyone know how to fix it without replacing the battery
