How to I make my horse stop stopping and refusing to go any further other than turning around.?

i had a mare that used to stop and then buck if i tried to do anything about it you could try making your horse just go in little circles for like 20 seconds to get his feet moving then while hes not expecting it tap him and try and get him to trot forward. it worked for me for awhile but my mare was very smart( too smart for anybody's good) so after a while she figured it out ( then we went in the other direction)
