Is there any combination of actions that will in fact bail us out of what's happening?

I've followed this financial crisis closely without specific stock market knowledge, only an educated principle of opportunity/cost. I've read left and right perspectives. I've seen Paulson say it's unprecedented and a story that Wall Street elders are calm about it. I've seen angry scenarios including that this election can be legally postponed on the basis of crisis.
