Bulletproof vest help please?

Im lookin for an SHTF bulletproof vest, but i dont know the first thing about any of them. please help me decide which kind to buy! also, is a plate carrier type good or bad, and what other kinds are there? (the vest must be able to be fitted with MOLLE pouches as well)
