Why doesn't Layne Staley get the respect and credit he deserves?

Layne is my all time favorite singer and i think he is the greatest singer of all time. But he doesn't get the respect and credit he deserves most people think he was just some drug addict loser or something when that is not true at all Layne was a artist great singer musician and artist great painter and drawer. Plus Layne was genuine funny i love watching Alice interviews because the whole band is funny as hell but Layne was the funniest. Plus is voice was always on no matter how messed up or sick he was. He Truly was amazing i miss him so much. William DuVall or anyone for that matter can replace Layne he is irreplaceable. The biggest disrespect was Rolling Stones list of 100 greatest singers and low and behold no Layne. Why is Layne so disrespected and doesn't get his due.
