Who sang the remake of Cyndi Laupers "Time After Time" ???

I remember it being either a famous kinda hip hop artist/ black female with a beautiful voice, but I cant find it! It was a while ago....Late 90's I think. HELP! It was kinda techno, and faster tempo than the original.
