Iphone 3g BB 6.15.00?

I am on 4.2.1 OS and was looking to restore my phone because it lags alot. If i restored it, would it attempt to restore the baseband as well, in turn making my phone unusable? Or can I just restore it, jailbreak it again, and it'll be okay?
